Dopey dog who can't stop spinning when excited searching for new home

When rescuing a dog, it's important to make sure you can meet their needs before welcoming them into your home.

For five-year-old Pepper, this would mean providing him with hours of love and affection as he settles in.

The pug is currently being housed at the RSPCA's Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford and District Animal Centre - but is ready to pack his bag and move in with his new owners.

With a zest for life, Pepper has been described as a "friendly little ball of fun with bags of character".

A statement reads: "He is full of energy and will spin when excited. He is super playful and enjoys playing with soft teddies.

"Pepper will need a very secure garden in his new home where he can play safely and burn off all his energy. It would also help him with his toilet training.

"He loves attention and a good fuss. Pepper likes company so would like a home with someone around most of the day to start with."

Pepper would suit most family homes and has previously lived with teenagers, making him suitable to live with sensible children. He may also be able to live alongside another playful but tolerant dog.

As rescue centres fill up with unwanted animals, the RSPCA has issued a message to those considering welcoming a furry friend into their home.

"While it may be easy to find animals on the internet or even spend hundreds on an expensive breeder, you could risk heartache or huge vet's bills if you don't do your homework," a statement reads.

"By adopting and not shopping you'll also feel good for doing good - by giving an animal a second chance at life in a loving home!

"Plus, adopting from us means that you can relax knowing that all our animals are healthy, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

"As with all the animals we rehome, we'll pass on the details of their behaviour and veterinary treatment. You'll likely know more about your rescue animal's history than if you were to buy an animal online!

"We've taken the time to get to know each animal as an individual, to understand their likes and dislikes and to prepare them for life in a loving family, which means there are less likely to be nasty surprises when you get home!

"When you adopt a cat or a dog from one of our centres, you'll also get four weeks free pet insurance, which is vital to protect your pet's future as well as your bank balance! There's so much to gain from rescuing an animal in need."

Anybody interested in rehoming Pepper, or any other dogs at Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford and District Animal Centre, should send their applications to enquiries@rspcahalifaxhuddersfieldbradford.org.uk.
