Police have confirmed they are investigating an assault involving doormen and a man in the city centre.
Officers received a report a man was assaulted outside Our Bar on Temple Court, just off Mathew Street in the city centre, at around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 2. Footage of the incident has only emerged in recent days and been shared widely on social media.
The 19-second clip starts with two men, who appear to be doormen, leaning over a man wearing a grey top on the floor. One of the doormen punches the man on the floor as another appears to hold him.

At one point, the video shows one of the doormen grabbing the man by the back of the neck and kneeing him to the face. He then grabs him by the face and repeatedly punches the man. The man in the grey top falls onto his side, where the clip shows the doorman kicking him to the chest.
Another doorman punches him again in the face. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said the man attended hospital for his injuries and has since been discharged.
At around 13 seconds into the video, a pensioner appears to try and break up the fight and approaches the doorman to stop. The clip shows another bouncer from behind kicking the older man. The man on the floor then gets up and walks away.
It is not clear what may have taken place before the filming began, however police confirmed today they are investigating the incident. Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries into the incident have been carried out and three men are due to voluntarily attend interview at a police station on Merseyside, police said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information is asked to contact police. Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was an nasty assault which left a man injured and we are aware of shocking video footage of the incident circulating on social media.
“Since the assault was reported to us last month, we have been carrying out extensive enquiries to find those responsible, including working with our partners at CityWatch and licencing. If you have any further information which could assist our enquiries, if you were out in the Matthew Street area on Saturday 2 April and saw anything, then please let us know.
“Liverpool is one of the safest cities in the UK – it has been awarded Purple flag status for over a decade and you are far more likely to enjoy a safe and enjoyable night out than witness or experience appalling incidents such as this.
