DoorDash Driver Fired After Tipping Fiasco Goes Viral

Tipping has become a big point of contention in recent years as consumers enter the post-pandemic era.

During the pandemic, tipping extra became the norm as a way to thank the frontline workers who delivered food to people who needed that service.

But now, social media is brimming with people who have stories of service workers demanding exorbitant tips for minimal work.

One such incident recently went viral, and the DoorDash (DASH) -) worker at the center of the controversy has been fired.

A delivery driver in Texas is out of a job after a doorbell camera caught a heated interaction between the driver and a woman who ordered a $20 pizza.

The driver didn't think a five dollar tip, which amounted to 25%, was enough from a woman who, apparently, lives in a very nice house. And he let her know about his feelings.

DoorDash fired the driver, saying "respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable," according to the New York Post. "We've removed this Dasher from our platform and reached out to the customer."

Lacey Purciful, the woman who received the pizza said that DoorDash initially would not allow her to rescind her tip but received a $5 reimbursement voucher after her husband complained.

After the couple made a bigger stink about the interaction with the rude driver, DoorDash opened an investigation, fired the driver, and raised the voucher to $75, the Daily Mail reported
