Heartbreaking doorbell camera footage captured a mother-of-three pleading with a callous thief who ignored her and drove off in her car leaving her close to a "breakdown".
Kerry McDonald from Accrington has been devastated by the loss of her black Ford Focus, saying "simple things like taking my children to Brownies have become a huge task".
She witnessed her car being taken from Duke Street, in Clayton-le-Moors, where it was parked on December 7 at 1.30am, reported LancsLive.
Kerry ran outside and grabbed hold of her car window, which was open, and begged the driver not to take her car - but he sped off leaving her no choice but to let go.
“My car means everything to me, it has been my safe space since I bought it. I just want it back. I think I’m still in shock," said Kerry, who has to work three jobs to make ends meet.
“The realisation comes over me in waves at the moment. Even simple things like taking my children to Brownies has become a huge task. I think I’ve tried to emotionally detach myself from everything so I don’t breakdown.”
Many essentials were in Kerry’s car including her passport, clothes, footwear, books, her children’s Mud and Bloom boxes, photos, her hair dryer and much more.
She says no one has tried to steal her car before, which she bought last year, but the back windows were smashed about three months ago.
The ordeal has left Kerry under a lot of stress and she is relying on others to take her children to school as she cannot afford bus fees, while she has to walk to work or rely on the kindness of others for lifts.
The 31-year-old has been working hard in preparation for the launch of her business ‘Very Kerry’ in Accrington Market Hall. She got the keys to her office on December 6, the day before her car was stolen.
Doorbell camera footage from a neighbour shows a group of people wearing hoodies trying a car door before one of them gets into the driver’s side of Kerry’s vehicle.
Lancashire Constabulary said they are aware of the incident and it is currently under investigation.
