Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers will be sitting out the game against his former team, the Utah Jazz, due to injury management. Mitchell, an All-Star guard, has been dealing with various injuries recently, including a left knee bone bruise and a broken nose, which have caused him to miss several games since the break.
Cleveland's coach, J.B. Bickerstaff, stated that Mitchell is expected to return to the lineup when the Cavaliers face the Phoenix Suns in their next game. Bickerstaff emphasized the importance of monitoring Mitchell's body and ensuring he gets the necessary rest to avoid overwhelming him, especially with a busy schedule ahead that includes back-to-back games against the Lakers and the Clippers.
Caris LeVert will be starting in place of Mitchell for the game against Utah. Mitchell had recently returned to play two consecutive games after a 13-game absence in March, but his performance was below his usual standards, averaging 12.5 points and shooting 28% from the field.
Cleveland has been struggling with injuries and has a record of 4-8 in their last 12 games. Despite the challenges, they are currently just a half-game ahead of the New York Knicks for third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
