Donovan Mitchell scored career-high 71 points, then said a heartfelt prayer for Bills’ Damar Hamlin

The sports world is waiting for updates on Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin, who collapsed on the field on Monday night.

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell was in the midst of his game against the Chicago Bulls when Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest after tackling Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins.

Mitchell, who finished his game against the Bulls with a career-high and franchise-record 71 points, said he did not immediately see what happened to Hamlin.

But although he was unpromoted by a specific question on the subject, he still finished his post-game press conference by sending “prayers up” to the Buffalo defender from everyone within the Cavs organization.

This was an incredibly heartfelt gesture from Mitchell, who could have easily had other things on his mind after such an electrifying on-court performance.

Instead, however, he put others first and chose to send prayers to Hamlin and Hamlin’s family at a time when they desperately need exactly that.

Mitchell added that his teammate, veteran forward Kevin Love, was the person who first informed him of the news and then encouraged him to send positivity to Hamiln.
