President Joe Biden's campaign has engaged in private conversations with donors, urging them to consider pausing their donations and emphasizing that it is their decision whether they want to contribute to the re-election of Donald Trump.

According to sources, some major donors have expressed hesitancy in continuing their financial support for Biden, with one donor opting not to match a seven-figure donation made in 2020 due to concerns about Biden's health and candidacy.

The donor class reportedly feels resigned as they observe Trump garnering significant pledges from tech billionaires who had not previously supported him, leading to sentiments of futility in backing Biden at this time.

Amid mounting questions about Biden's candidacy, donor sources indicate that all contributions are currently on hold until there is more certainty at the top of the ticket.

Recent events, such as Trump surviving an assassination attempt and Biden contracting Covid, have further complicated the political landscape, with Democratic leaders expressing concerns about Trump's momentum and the impact on vulnerable districts.

During a meeting between Biden and top House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries, Jeffries reportedly refrained from directly calling on Biden to step aside, instead suggesting that the decision should come from the members. Biden responded assertively, challenging more members, including Jeffries, to voice their opposition. Jeffries' office declined to comment on the specifics of the conversation.
