Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has admitted that he is always determined to repay the fans for their outstanding level of support.
The Dutchman, who was forced to pull out of the starting line-up just minutes before Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Real Betis in Spain, has failed to make any sort of impact since joining United in September 2020. He has made just 57 appearances in total, scoring two goals and registering two assists.
The appointment of Erik ten Hag, who worked with Van de Beek at Ajax, was expected to resurrect the midfielder's career at Old Trafford, but he has failed to live up to expectations. He has made just seven appearances in all competitions this season, resulting in him missing out on a place in the Netherlands' World Cup squad, and has failed to have any sort of impact in those matches.

But despite his struggles in M16, Van de Beek has spoken glowingly of the club's supporters, who, for the most part, have stuck with the Dutchman, in the hope that will come good.
Van de Beek, speaking to United's club website, said: "A full Old Trafford, I just can't explain it. It's just a nice experience and a nice feeling.
"It [the fans singing my name] always gives you confidence and a good feeling. Yes, it's really nice and it gives you more energy.
"I just try to do my best and give everything and it gives a good feeling that they like me. I try to give them as much as possible that I have."
Although opportunities have not been as forthcoming as he would have liked during his United career, Van de Beek has enjoyed playing at Old Trafford. He has played in several fixtures where the atmosphere has been vibrant, meaning he has struggled to pinpoint his best M16 experience.
"That's a hard one," added the Dutchman, when asked to pick out his fondest Old Trafford experience. "Many, many games – I can't say really one. Most of the time, it's an amazing atmosphere in the stadium, when we play at home. And the away fans as well.
"I have to say, every time, you can hear them, even in the game, and that's a good sign and a nice feeling."
