Donny van de Beek reveals Manchester United dressing room secret about Bruno Fernandes

Donny van de Beek has revealed Bruno Fernandes is responsible for the music inside Manchester United's dressing room.

Van de Beek, 25, has struggled for game time since joining United from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and he was expected to benefit from the appointment of Erik ten Hag, but he has continued to be a fringe player, despite the Dutchman's arrival.

The midfielder signed for Everton on loan in January and he's now returned to United to fight for his place at Old Trafford. The new Premier League season started six weeks ago and Van de Beek has played just 19 minutes across that period.

Van de Beek has been absent from the last three matchday squads with injury and he was not included in Louis van Gaal's Netherlands squad this week for the international break, which means he's remained at Carrington while the majority of his teammates are away.

That has given him the opportunity to sit down with the club's media to discuss some dressing room secrets in an interview:

“My best friend at United? That’s a good question," Van de Beek told United's in-house media. "I have a few guys who I’m good with, I’m good with Luke [Shaw], for example, but a few other guys as well who I do some stuff outside of football with.

"Luke is one of the guys I have a good connection with. A few other guys as well: in the past we had Nemanja Matic or Juan Mata, we go out for dinner sometimes or for lunch after training. I think it’s good to do that to relax sometimes.

"Yeah, this is the kind of stuff we do. I think Bruno [Fernandes] does a lot of music songs in the dressing room. But before, I don’t know who did this. Now, I see Bruno with the box, so he does all the music. I like a few of his songs but not everything.

"I think he’s good. Different, all the things, even one time he put some Dutch music into the dressing room. Different kind of stuff. Last season, everyone had to put a song [in] and we mixed that.”
