Seventies heartthrob Donny Osmond wants to team up with Justin Bieber – because he says they are so alike.
The 65-year-old US singer found fame as a child pop star in family group The Osmonds and had his first solo hit at 14.
Bieber, 29, signed to a label at the same age after being a YouTube hit.Donny, who topped the UK charts in 1972 with single Puppy Love, said: “I’d love to do something with Justin because of the similarities between our two careers.
“But that all depends on whether the planets align.”
Donny was just six when he joined four of his brothers in their family singing group, sparking teen-led “Osmondmania” when they burst on to the UK scene eight years later.
Crowds of hysterical fans were so disruptive, Donny was even banned from flying into Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Bieber’s career exploded overnight and millions of teen “Beliebers” once forced Iceland to close a canyon he filmed at.
Donny will be back on stage in the UK in November, more than 50 years after he first performed here.
He said: “It wasn’t until the UK that Osmondmania hit, so it’s the UK that’s responsible for me being where I am today.”
