'Donny is a Toffee' - Everton fans rave as Van de Beek joins from Manchester United

Everton supporters are revelling at the prospect of seeing Donny van de Beek in action at Goodison Park.

The 24-year-old has completed his loan move to the Toffees from parent club Manchester United hours before the 11pm deadline this January transfer window. He has completed a medical and the Merseysiders will pay the entirety of his £120,000-a-week wage packet until the end of this season.

Further interest had been shown by Crystal Palace and an unnamed club from overseas.

Having signed for United in a £40million deal from Ajax in September 2020, the Dutchman has been rarely used in the Premier League and none of his four starts in that competition have come this campaign.

That lack of game-time has also, for now, cost van de Beek his place in the Netherlands international squad.

It's been an incredibly busy few hours at Everton as incoming manager Frank Lampard prepares to take charge and the club also eye-up a late, permanent swoop for Tottenham outcast Dele Alli.

For now, though, van de Beek will take centre stage after rubber-stamping his switch to Goodison Park.

Here are a selection of comments from Everton fans about the Dutchman on social media platform Twitter;

@nataliebargery said: "Really pleased with this. Welcome to Donny!"

@cholphela posted: "Let's buy him for next season..."

@EvertonLifes added: "Donny is a Toffee. What a signing."

@NewMozDivision said: "Everything feels like it's clicking into place."

@Paddy_McKeanEFC posted: "I'm really excited by this signing. He was an integral part of Ajax's side a few years back and never really got a chance at United. Hopefully he will do really well for us..."

@mrbennyharris added: "Really like Donny van de Beek. Great signing from Everton."
