Donegal family asks for privacy as funeral details confirmed for 'beautiful' Jessica Gallagher killed in Creeslough

The funeral details for Jessica Gallagher, one of ten victims of Friday afternoon’s petrol station blast in Creeslough have been announced this morning.

Hundreds of people have been leaving heartfelt messages for the family of the young woman as the small Donegal community grieves the victims of the petrol station explosion on Friday.

The 24-year-old’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, October 11 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Church, Creeslough “with interment afterwards in Doe Cemetery.”

The family have asked for strict privacy at their home, where Jessica’s body will repose ahead of her funeral.

Her death notice read: “The tragic death has taken place of Jessica Gallagher, Killoughcarran, Creeslough. House strictly private to family, neighbours and friends only.

“Funeral Mass in St. Michael’s Church, Creeslough, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 11th at 11am with interment afterwards in Doe Cemetery.

“Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to the Donegal Hospice.”

Jessica passed away, alongside Catherine O'Donnell, 39, and her 14-year-old son James Monaghan; Robert Garwe, 50, and his five-year-old daughter Shauna Flanagan Garwe; 14-year-old Leona Harper; Martin McGill, 49; James O’Flaherty, 48; Martina Martin, 49, and 59-year-old Hugh Kelly.

Condolences have been streaming in for the young girl, one mourner wrote: “Thinking of you all at this very sad time.

"Heartbroken for you all on the loss of your beautiful Jessica. May she RIP. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the community of Creeslough.”

A second person wrote: “No words are adequate in this terrible tragedy. May god give ye strength to shoulder this terrible tragedy.”

A third mourner said: “A beautiful girl. There are no words. Thinking and praying for ye at this difficult time.”
