‘Done brilliantly’ - Man United fans spot Anthony Elanga's role in Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener vs Norwich

Manchester United fans were overjoyed to see Anthony Elanga set up Cristiano Ronaldo for his 19th goal of the season against Norwich.

The 37-year-old slid the ball into an unguarded net after Elanga had pinched it from Canaries defender Ben Gibson, leaving goalkeeper Tim Krul in no man’s land. The talent has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Old Trafford and is one of the few positives to have emerged this term.

His assist was his first of the season, adding yet more sparkle to his terrific debut senior campaign. Many United fans have called for the 19-year-old to be a consistent starter, having clocked up eight in the Premier League so far this season.

This was championed again after assisting Ronaldo on Saturday. Some United fans took to Twitter to share their praise for the youngster.

@RichGT2RS: I've seen a lot on here downplaying Elanga and it baffles me. His first season playing in the first team & he's done brilliantly for his age.

@davidleconte97: Need Elanga and Sancho to start every match

@Nattyzay: Nice and simple goal by Ronaldo. All credit to elanga

There was some humour over his celebration too, producing an unorthodox ‘siu’ celebration with goalscorer Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, United supporters also gave credit to Ronaldo, who broke his five league-game goal drought with the effort. He extended his lead of being the club’s top scorer this season and has reached 20 goals for a 16th consecutive season.

@Viscenzo_: This is the reason why Cristiano Ronaldo is The Greatest Player Of All Time.

@TimiFrost: He's done it again!

@Jhowmount: Viva Ronaldo.

@Moses_Maibelo: Sancho, Ronaldo & Lingard, Ralf Rangnick's lucky charm

@Miraclan_: "Ronaldo is finished" yet he landed that glazing goal in the 9th minute.

United are considered outsiders for the top four but Tottenham’s surprise loss to Brighton on Saturday will have given them hope that the race is not yet over.
