Donatella Versace and Anna Wintour talk politics and fashion at the Vogue Summit in New York

Fashion designer Donatella Versace and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour appeared together at the Vogue Forces of Fashion conference in New York City on Friday afternoon, where they discussed politics, the future of fashion and young talent.

Versace took the stage to Lady Gaga's song 'Donatella', starting the conversation off with a bang.

“The world in general, not just America is going through a difficult time. When someone looks back and not ahead, that is a mistake, especially in politics” Versace said about the current political climate.

She also said she was a fan of Mayor Pete from Indiana, “I very much like [democratic candidate] Mayor Pete [Buttigieg]. He talks about inclusivity and has a fresh perspective for an open-minded America.”

“You have to look forward. Fashion is one of the most difficult places to achieve it, but you have to start somewhere” Versace shared about where she thinks the future of the fashion industry is headed.

Wintour and Versace have been longtime friends, Wintour shared a story about a vacation the two went on back in the day. “We were going to this Dude Ranch, which was quite difficult to get to, and we had to take quite a small plane. Donatella took one look at it, and she said ‘Anna this is not a plane this a hairdryer!’”

Versace added that she would like to launch a line of make-up next year. "Though of course, I don't wear make-up" she joked.
