Donald Trump has claimed he could settle the Ukraine war in just "one day" in a bizarre boast.
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) he made the boasts to massed supporters as his campaign to be re-elected US President picks up steam.
The event, which is seen as a key event for Republican presidential hopefuls, was dubbed "TPAC" due to the sheer number of Trump supporters in attendance.
In a sweeping speech covering a number of topics, Trump made the claims he would put a stop to the Russia-Ukraine war which has ground on for over a year now and left thousands dead.
Trump promised: "Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, I will have the disastrous war between Russia and Ukraine settled. It will be settled quickly.
"I will get the problem solved and I will get it solved in rapid order. And it will take me no longer than one day. I know exactly what to say to each of them. I get along with them."
He went on to highlight just how well he and Russian Premier Vladimir Putin get on, saying: "I get along very well with Putin, even though I'm the one that ended his pipeline. Remember they said 'Trump is giving a lot to Russia!'
"Really? Putin actually said to me 'If you're my friend I'd hate as hell to see you as my enemy'."
He added: "I'm the only candidate who can make this promise. I will very easily prevent World War Three."
Despite considered one of the key main rival's to Trump's ambitions to lead the Republican Party into a third election, Ron DeSantis spoke at a separate event in Florida.
Nikki Haley, the only other major candidate apart from Trump to have declared herself for the election, faced chants of "Trump, Trump" as she entered the venue.
Trump gave the keynote speech on Saturday night.
Donald Trump Jr. and Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump also spoke.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump put forward a plan to hold a contest to create up to 10 new “Freedom Cities," which would be built on government land and have flying cars.
He also proposed 'baby bonuses' to encourage a new baby boom.
