Donald Trump is expected to come to Scotland next month to visit his luxury golf resorts. Reports from the States suggest the former president is planning to roll up at his links courses in Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire.
He is also expected to stop off at his mother Mary MacLeod’s former home in Tong, on the Isle of Lewis, where she was raised before emigrating to the US. Trump’s Scottish holiday will follow a stay at the Trump International Hotel & Golf Links near Doonbeg, in County Clare, Ireland, next month.
Bosses at the resort on the Atlantic coast expect the 76-year-old to land at Shannon Airport on May 3. Trump’s visit to Ireland comes just weeks after his successor, Joe Biden, took part in a four-day Irish visit. There is speculation the two men, who went head to head in the 2020 US election, could be candidates again next year.
Last August, the Sunday Mail revealed Trump had been forced to scrap plans to visit Scotland after an FBI raid on his Florida home. His visit in 2018 cost as much as £3.5million. During that trip, thousands of anti-Trump protesters paraded in Edinburgh.
There were also protests when the billionaire played golf at his resort in Turnberry, Ayrshire. Trump is facing court action in the US.
He pled not guilty to falsifying business records to hide damaging information ahead of the 2016 presidential election. The Sunday Mail made attempts to reach Trump’s Scottish representatives but were unable to contact them.
