Drama alert! There could be trouble in paradise for America’s hottest power couple, Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Turns out that nobody likes having a clingy boo, with relationship and political experts alike predicting that a messy breakup is imminent.
When Musk and Trump first met, it was a match made in heaven. The pair got along like two filthy rich peas in a far-right pod.
He was an impeached former president/convicted felon desperate for re-election, and he was a thrice-divorced tech CEO desperate to prove he was popular. Their connection was fated in the stars.
And though critics scorned their love, with determination, effort, and billions of daddy’s money, they proved you can buy a presidency for as little as a million dollars a day.
It’s a romance for the history books, but like a monkey with one of Musk’s Neuralink brain-chip, it is doomed to die.
So for anyone worried about the disastrous impacts of a second Trump term, rest assured that there is one bright side:
We are 100 per cent going to see a public falling-out between these two trainwreck men.
Trump and Musk’s breakup is certain
Since Trump won the 2024 US Presidential election in November, Musk has hardly left his side, inserting himself into the 78-year-old’s Mar-a-Lago residence like an extended member of the Trump family.
At first the love looked mutual. Trump spent ages yapping about Musk’s rocket (not a euphemism) in his victory speech, and then repaid the X CEO’s loyalty by appointing him co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
However, it looks like the honeymoon stage is well and truly over just two months later.
With mere days until the inauguration, all the news around the incoming US government should be focused on the plans Trump has to “make America great again”.
Instead what we are hearing from Washington is reports that the president elect is increasingly irritated by the Tesla CEO’s constant presence.
“Trump does complain a bit to people about how Musk is around a lot,” Maggie “Trump Whisperer” Haberman told the On podcast.

Now on one hand, this could be a sign that Trump is peeved by the fact he’s accidentally adopted the world’s cringiest 53-year-old as a son you wish would move out.
On the other hand, Trump could be growing annoyed at how the guy who he thought was merely there to help him get elected, is now wielding far more power than Trump is comfortable with.
The only reason Trump is ever going to care about how Elon has unconstitutionally inserted himself into the most powerful office in America is if he starts suspecting Musk is trying to pull the rug from him.
‘Cos let’s be real, everything is a dick measuring contest between these guys. It might look like a battle over who has more money, or power, or popularity, but at the end of the day it’s about who is sucking up to who.
And if Trump feels like he’s not the biggest dog in the yard, then the inevitable outcome for Elon is the classic “you’re fired”.
Trump and Musk’s past relationship red flags
Plus if history is anything to go by, these two have ZERO chance of making it through the term together.
Trump’s last Vice President, Mike Pence, is now an enemy of the MAGA movement for his disloyalty in not overturning the result of the 2020 US election. (Happy January 6 anniversary to all who observe!)

Not to mention that pretty much every position in his first cabinet saw multiple people sitting in it over the 2016-2020 term, and almost all of those individuals are now anti-Trump.
Alternatively, Elon Musk has an unparalleled pattern of showing his support for someone, and then turning on them for the pettiest of reasons.
Hell, Musk used to vote for the Democrats until they didn’t invite him to an electric car convention.
And don’t even get me started on the fact that these men are both horrific at keeping their personal relationships intact.
They’ve had about five divorces between each of them, and all the billions in the world aren’t enough to pay for the therapy to fix their daddy issues.
To make matters worse for them, the Democrats have started to notice the cracks, and are playing into Trump’s notorious insecurity by launching a series of ads calling him the “Vice President to President Musk”.

In conclusion: these two are about to have one of the biggest and messiest falling-outs in political and dating history.
Their breakup is as certain as that between a couple on MAFS, except this one will actually be enjoyable to watch.
The fallout from this divorce is going to make Chernobyl look like a joke. We are literally talking about a nuclear-war scale breakup here.
Elon is going to ban Trump from Twitter/X again, and Trump will respond by having Elon deported.
It’ll be glorious.
I give them six months at most. If they survive a day more, I’ll eat a MAGA hat.
