Donald Trump Inauguration: Coleen Rooney comment resurfaces

With Donald Trump set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States today, a past encounter with Coleen Rooney has resurfaced.

In 2018, during a Christmas event at the White House, Trump made a remark to Coleen Rooney, wife of footballer Wayne Rooney, that many found inappropriate.

Trump’s Strange Remark to Coleen Rooney

Coleen recounted the incident on Sky Bet’s Stick to Football podcast, stating that Trump said to his son, Barron, in her presence, “See, I told you all the soccer players get the good-looking girls.”

The comment was met with disapproval from Coleen’s mother. “When I’ve come out, I’ve told my mum, she was like, ‘Ergh’,” Coleen said.

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright, who was part of the podcast, called Trump a “freak” in response to the comment.

The Rooneys were in the U.S. at the time due to Wayne Rooney’s tenure with MLS side D.C. United.

Coleen previously spoke about meeting Trump while on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! last year.

She admitted that she found the then-President-elect to be a “dirty b*****d” and revealed that Trump had wanted Wayne to teach his son, Barron, how to play football.

Her campmates, including King of the Jungle Danny Jones, were stunned, with Jones even asking, “Is he that orange?” to which Coleen responded, “He was very orange!”

Trump’s Second Inauguration Amid Renewed Scrutiny

As Trump prepares to take the oath of office today, the Coleen comment is a reminder of the other controversies that have surrounded him.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place indoors at the Capitol Rotunda due to anticipated cold weather, marking the first time in 40 years that the event has been moved indoors.

With millions tuning in to watch Trump’s return to the Oval Office, this resurfaced story highlights how his past behaviour continues to spark criticism.
