President Donald Trump appears to have hung his own mugshot along a hallway at the Oval office.
A front page from the New York Post featuring the viral image of the US presiden was seen hanging in a golden frame as the President greeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the White House.
It was captured in press photos of the meeting between the two world leaders.
Donald Trump's mugshot was taken on August 24, 2023, at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia as part of his surrender in connection with charges related to alleged election interference in Georgia. It was the first-ever mugshot of a former US president.
It made the front page of newspapers across the US including New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal, as well as around the world.
Trump was released on a $200,000 bail and denied all the allegations, claiming they were politically motivated and part of a broader effort to undermine his political career.
Prosecutors agreed to drop all all the charges after the US president’s re-election in November.
After his mugshot was taken at the Fulton County Jail, Trump made the image a central part of his public strategy.
His campaign started selling merchandise featuring the image, including T-shirts, mugs, and posters.
The slogan “Never Surrender” became associated with the mugshot, and Trump’s team used it to raise millions of dollars in contributions from his supporters.
On Thursday, Modi became the fourth world leader to visit Trump during his second term as president.
India’s PM made references to Trump’s slogan ‘Make America Great Again’ and joked about adopting his own version.
Modi said at the meeting: “One thing that I deeply appreciate and I learned from President Trump is that he keeps the national interest supreme. And like him, I also keep the national interest of India at the top of everything else.”
Trump said Modi was a “great leader” and the US and India had a “very special bond”.
