Donald Cerrone Re-Enters Drug Testing Pool For 2025 UFC Return

UFC legend Donald Cerrone is set for a shock return to MMA at 41-years-old as ‘Cowboy’ re-enters UFC drug testing pool. The UFC veteran has revealed his desire to have two more fights in the UFC before officially retiring.

Donald Cerrone Re-Enters UFC Drug Testing Pool

UFC Hall of Famer Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is planning a shock return to the UFC in 2025. The 41-year-old MMA veteran has officially re-entered the drug testing pool ahead of a spectacular return to combat next year.

The UFC lightweight stalwart retired in 2022 following a loss to Jim Miler at UFC 276, which was his sixth loss in his last seven fights. Over two years after his last fight, the MMA legend is now plotting his return to action for next year.

During his long and illustrious UFC career, Donald Cerrone fought everyone there is to fight in an around the lightweight division. This includes names such as Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Darren Till, Jorge Masvidal, Leon Edwards, Tony Ferguson and Rafael Dos Anjos to name a few of his former opponents.

Despite never winning the full UFC Title at either 155-pounds or welterweight, Cerrone did compete for the lightweight title once during his career. That being said, he was a fighter who wasn’t afraid of facing anyone, and always gave his best inside the octagon no matter what.

As it stands, ‘Cowboy’ has a professional MMA record of 36-17-2. Of his 55 career fights across two decades, 38 of them have come under the UFC banner. Now, Cerrone has re-entered the drug testing pool and admits he wants two more. That’s it.

UFC President Dana White was initially against this proposed comeback, but with the right opponents in the opposite corner, there isn’t any reason why Donald Cerrone can’t finish his UFC career on a high once and for all.

‘Cowboy’ – “Two More And That’s It”

During a recent interview with The Pacman Jones Show, Donald Cerrone revealed that he has officially re-entered the UFC drug testing pool amid a sensational return to action in 2025.

By the time ‘Cowboy’ had had six months in the testing pool he will be 42-years-old. Not only that, but he will have been out of octagon action for almost three years and without a win since May 2019.

Not only that, but he has also hinted at a return to 185-pounds at middleweight. Cerrone fought for the majority of his career at lightweight (155), as well as having a few bouts at 170-pounds too. But a move to middleweight looks on the cards next for the returning ‘Cowboy’.

“I just re-entered the testing pool, I have to be six months clean. Probably in June or July we will make the comeback. I am coming back for two more. Just two more. I want 50 fights in the UFC (under Zuffa). So, I promised my wife no matter what happens, no matter the outcome, two more and that’s it.

“I think it’s going to be at 185 is where I am coming back at. We will see how my weight maintains once I pick up training,” Cerrone concluded.

It remains to be seen what actually happens with Donald Cerrone, and whether he returns to the UFC in 2025 or not. If he does, fans would certainly tune in to watch a true UFC stalwart have two more fights before retiring for good. What a story it could be.
