'Don't waste time' - Manchester United fans hijack Antony Instagram post amid transfer links

Manchester United fans have pleaded with Antony to secure a transfer to their club amid ongoing transfer links.

The winger was on Erik ten Hag’s initial summer wish list but Ajax are playing hardball over a potential switch having lost a number of key players already this summer. One of them is Lisandro Martinez, who was officially unveiled by United on Wednesday.

Both he and fellow new recruit Christian Eriksen played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wrexham this afternoon, the latter scoring on his unofficial debut. The pair followed Tyrell Malacia, who was Ten Hag’s first acquisition as United boss.

Supporters wish to see Antony come in as their fourth recruit of the window, but the winger will reportedly not come cheap. There is still some hope of a transfer though, with Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder softening his stance on an exit for the Brazilian.

The winger has been out injured for a number of months but returned to action with Ajax on Tuesday, starting in the 3-1 friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk. Shortly after the game, Antony took to Instagram to deliver a message to fans.

“After 4 months without playing, I finally returned with the certainty that I'm ready for the season!” he wrote. The post was liked by Old Trafford midfielder Donny van de Beek, formerly of Ajax.

United supporters also noted his message and took over the comments to implore him to make the switch to Manchester.
