Dominik Szoboszlai statistic shows Liverpool are signing one of Europe's leading stars

Liverpool look set to press ahead with a £60m move for RB Leipzig's Dominik Szoboszlai.

Club officials held talks with the Hungary captain's representatives earlier this week as they held exploratory discussions around a potential deal for the attacking midfielder.

Such news will come as a massive boost to both Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans. with the German boss hoping to rejuvenate his squad following an underwhelming Premier League campaign.

While signing Alexis Mac Allister will help fill the void created by the exits of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino's departure means the Reds will require an injection of creativity. Something Szoboszlai has a track record of providing.

As a matter of fact, Szoboszlai was one of the Bundesliga's leading creators last season, with only some of Europe's best and most exciting talents ahead of him in the charts.

Across the 2022/2023 Bundesliga campaign, Szoboszlai was involved in 163 open-play shot-ending sequences. They were broken down into 49 shots, 48 chances created, and 66 actions in the build-up.

He sits behind former Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham (176), who the Reds were priced out of a move for by Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich duo Jamal Musiala (181) and Joshua Kimmich (199).

Although, when compared to those names, Szoboszlai's quality remains evident. He created more chances than both Bellingham and Kimmich, showing just how influential he can be in the attacking third.

In terms of those Szoboszlai bettered in open play shot-ending sequences, the list includes the extreme talents Leroy Sane, Moussa Diaby, Serge Gnabry, Julian Brandt, Raphael Guerreiro and Alphonso Davies. Quite a few of whom have been linked with major moves across Europe.
