'Dominant era is upon us' - Liverpool supporters react to Calvin Ramsay signing

Liverpool supporters have given a warm welcome to Calvin Ramsay after the teenage full-back's transfer to Anfield was confirmed on Sunday morning.

Ramsay enjoyed a stellar 2021/22 campaign for Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League, earning the Scottish Football Writers' Young Player of the Season award as a result. But the next time he runs onto a pitch in a red shirt it will be for Jurgen Klopp's double cup-winners, after the club agreed a five-year deal worth up to £6.5million with the Dons.

Fans were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts on Liverpool's latest 18-year-old signing.

Writing on Twitter, @DynastyKlopp said: "Calvin Ramsay, another fantastic Scot in the team...beginning to feel like another 70-80s dominant era is upon us. Welcome home Mr Ramsay...Liverpool are gonna love you!!"

@Cuba20008 added: "Good, solid back up. Up and coming player. Gives Trent a rest when he needs it."

Former Red Jose Enrique has also got in on the action. He Tweeted: "Our new number 22 reds! back up for Trent that it was very needed. We have an amazing squad this season again. Up the reds"

But one observer believes that the Reds have got their man for an absolute steal. @TerryTurnbull Tweeted: " @AberdeenFC totally mugged off by @liverpool in selling Calvin Ramsay for such a low fee. £4 million down payment is a joke. Scousers laughing all the way from the bank. Dons fans will be spitting mad!!!"

@LFCfab commented on Twitter: "Liverpool FC's pull is now strong than it has ever been before." while Paralympian swimmer and Liverpool fan Ryan Crouch said: "Welcome to the greatest club in Britain! You’ll Never Walk Alone Calvin."

Ramsay will join up with this new teammates for the start of preseason training on July 4. He could hardly have better peers to learn from than the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas.
