The Los Angeles Lakers need to rip off some wins in bunches and make a move in the Western Conference, but their schedule will not be doing them any favors.
They will face Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday and the Los Angeles Clippers next week. On Jan. 28, they will start a five-game road trip that features games against the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans.
Wednesday night, L.A. hosts the Sacramento Kings, a team that has been on an offensive tear lately, scoring more than 130 points in each of its last five games.
Luckily for the Lakers, they catch a break. Center Domantas Sabonis will not play, and neither will reserve guard Matthew Dellavedova.
Updated Injury Report vs. Los Angeles Lakers – 1/18:
Domantas Sabonis (Non COVID illness) – OUT
Matthew Dellavedova (Non COVID illness) – OUT— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) January 19, 2023
Sabonis is the team’s second-leading scorer at 18.9 points per game, and he can score in multiple ways, whether in the paint or from outside. He is averaging 12.6 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, so the Kings will sorely miss him.
