The Miami Dolphins had to wait through 50 picks, but they were finally able to make their first selection in the 2023 NFL draft at pick No. 51.
Miami stayed put and drafted South Carolina cornerback Cam Smith to add to an impressive secondary that already boasts Jalen Ramsey, Xavien Howard and Jevon Holland as well as 2022 undrafted free agent find Kader Kohou.
Smith, in 32 collegiate games for the Gamecocks, recorded 91 tackles, 19 passes defended and six interceptions.
With some good coaching from defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, the Dolphins may have found an impact player for the future.
