The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Buffalo Bills 48-20 on Sunday at Highmark Stadium, dropping them to 3-1.
Mike McDaniel’s team suffered their first loss of the 2023 campaign in the first of two meetings against their AFC East rival. Both sides of the ball need to show improvements to feel confident going forward.
Buy Dolphins TicketsWith the season in full swing, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey is producing weekly power rankings, and after jumping up to No. in last week’s edition, the Dolphins have fallen back to No. 4 for Week 5.
Here’s what Bailey wrote about Miami after their loss to the Bills:
“Perhaps this was a needed slap in the face for the Dolphins’ defense. Vic Fangio was supposed to be a Godsend for Miami’s defense, and the Bills casually dropped 48 points. This is still a very good Dolphins team, but this is as human as they’ve looked so far.”
The only teams ahead of the Dolphins at this point are the Kansas City Chiefs (No. 3), San Francisco 49ers (No. 2) and Buffalo Bills (No. 1).
Buffalo leaped over Miami after beating them head-to-head, the 49ers are undefeated and the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes, so there’s not much to argue with this week.
