The Miami Dolphins placed wide receiver Grant DuBose on injured reserve and signed Tim Boyle to the active roster.
DuBose, 23, popped up on the injury report as a limited participant Wednesday due to a shoulder injury. After missing practice Thursday and Friday, DuBose was ruled out by the team for Week 3. Now he’s sidelined for at least four games and will be eligible to return in Week 8.
In two appearances with the Dolphins, DuBose caught one pass for 13 yards.
Boyle, 29, was signed to the Miami practice squad last month after he was released by Houston Texans. While the Dolphins could have elevated him from the practice squad on a temporary basis, he wouldn’t be eligible to be listed as a third quarterback through the standard elevation rules.
By placing him on the active roster, the Dolphins can make Boyle available to play without counting against the limit of 47 players active on game days.
Earlier this week, the Dolphins signed Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad to backup Skylar Thompson.
