The Dolphins are placing running back De’Von Achane on injured reserve, ensuring that he will miss at least the next four games, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Achane suffered a knee injury in Miami’s win against the Giants on Sunday.
So far this season, Achane has been a revelation for the Dolphins. After the running back missed the first game of the season, and barely appeared in the second, he exploded in the three games prior, totaling 455 yards on 37 carries with five touchdowns since Week 3. On the year, Achane is averaging a league-high 12.11 yards per carry and 115 yards per game.
Achane was a third-round pick out of Texas A&M who accumulated 2,469 yards from scrimmage with 21 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Aggies.
With Miami placing him on injured reserve, Achane will miss games against the Panthers, Eagles, Patriots and Chiefs. Miami will then have their bye week, and Achane will be eligible to return Week 11 vs. the Raiders. Without Achane, the Dolphins will instead likely lean on Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Salvon Ahmed while the rookie recovers.
