Dolphins’ McDaniel Details Jalen Ramsey’s ‘Amazing’ Response to Knee Injury

Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a non-contact knee injury on Thursday, jeopardizing the start of his 2023 season. According to head coach Mike McDaniel, the injury is to Ramsey’s meniscus and requires surgery on Friday.

While McDaniel said the exact timeline for Ramsey’s return will be determined after the surgery, the coach mentioned how he does not believe Ramsey will be ready until midseason. However, McDaniel was impressed by the cornerback’s demeanor throughout the process.

“The most amazing thing about the whole thing was the way Jalen responded,” McDaniel said. “He spoke to the team yesterday and it really moved a lot of people.”

Ramsey is set to enter his first season in Miami after the Dolphins acquired him from the Rams in the offseason. He, alongside cornerback Xavien Howard, were set to form one of the fiercest secondaries in the league.

However, as Ramsey’s Dolphins debut will be delayed, the veteran stressed to the team not to worry about him and to take care of business instead.

“He first let everybody know how much he appreciated this team, how this team has accepted him,” McDaniel said. “He told all of his teammates not to worry, not to feel sorry for him. Whatever timeline the doctors give him, he’s going after that timeline, trying to flex that he’ll beat it.”

Last year, Ramsey played in 17 games for Los Angeles, totaling 88 tackles and four interceptions on his way to an sixth straight Pro Bowl appearance.
