Dolphins, LB David Long agree to terms on contract

The Miami Dolphins came to their first contract agreement with a free agent just hours after the legal tampering period opened, as they agreed to terms with quarterback Mike White to be their backup.

Now, they’ve found another free agent to fill a need, as according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Dolphins have agreed to a contract with linebacker David Long. Fowler reported that the deal is set to be for two years and $11 million.

Long, 26, was a sixth-round selection of the Tennessee Titans in 2019 after a collegiate career at West Virginia. Since entering the league, he’s recorded 230 total tackles, 14 passes defended, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.

The former Mountaineer will now slide in alongside Jerome Baker as the top two linebackers on Miami’s roster. Elandon Roberts, Duke Riley, Sam Eguavoen, Andrew Van Ginkel and Melvin Ingram are all members of the Dolphins’ 2022 roster that remain free to sign anywhere, including back with the aqua and orange.
