Dolphins, LB Bradley Chubb agree to massive contract extension

The Miami Dolphins traded for linebacker Bradley Chubb at the trade deadline, bringing in a potential game-changer on the defensive side of the ball to add to an already strong group.

Now, the Dolphins have locked up the former Denver Broncos pass-rusher on a long-term deal. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the two sides have agreed to a five-year extension, that will pay him $119 million with $63.2 million guaranteed, including his fifth-year option.

Chubb’s $22 million average annual value for the extension will put him sixth at his position, according to Over the Cap, behind only T.J. Watt ($28 million), Joey Bosa ($27 million), Myles Garrett ($25 million), Maxx Crosby ($23.5 million) and Khalil Mack ($23.5 million).

If he can stay healthy during his time in Miami, he has the potential to outperform the expectations that will be set by such a massive extension.
