Before their decision to place Jonathan Taylor on the Physically Unable to Perform List, the Colts were reportedly fielding trade offers from both the Dolphins and the Packers, and apparently were seeking a very big return. In exchange for Taylor, Indianapolis reportedly wanted Miami to give up wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in a trade, according to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson.
No one bit on the lofty asking price for Taylor and it appears Miami general manager Chris Grier is sending a very clear message that Waddle isn’t available—for anyone.
“Jaylen Waddle would not be available, no matter who they’re calling to talk about,” Grier said with a laugh, according to ESPN’s Marcel Louis–Jacques.
That’s no surprise since the 24-year-old is a star in the making. The Dolphins selected Waddle with the No. 6 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and he’s done nothing but thrive, putting up 1,000-yard seasons in his first two years in the NFL. He caught 75 passes for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns last year and is poised for another stellar showing in 2023.
