The Miami Dolphins welcomed the Las Vegas Raiders into Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon and earned their seventh victory of the season, as they won 20-13.
Miami’s offense may have been putting up yards, but they struggled to find the end zone. They had three turnovers (two fumbles and one interception) as well as a turnover-on-downs in the red zone.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa finished the game completing 72% of his passes for 325 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also had a fumble lost on a play that he tried to run for a first down.
He was just a bit off on Sunday, as he had a number of passes that could’ve been interceptions if the defenders could bring the ball in.
Miami’s offense got rookie De’Von Achane back for this matchup, but he left after just two touches with a knee injury and never returned.
Instead, the Dolphins had to rely on Raheem Mostert and Salvon Ahmed. Mostert rushed for 86 yards on 3.9 yards per attempt, while Ahmed recorded a receiving touchdown.
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill also suffered an injury, but he didn’t miss much time. He was incredible, as usual, bringing in 10 receptions for 146 yards and a touchdown. And, when he wasn’t on the field, Jaylen Waddle stepped up.
Defensively, Vic Fangio’s unit was incredible. They recorded three interceptions, including one amazing play by cornerback Jalen Ramsey with a diving effort. Ramsey had another that sealed the game, and Jaelan Phillips had one as well.
They held Josh Jacobs, last season’s leading rusher, to just 2.8 yards per carry. The front seven recorded six quarterback hits and two sacks, with Phillips getting both.
When this group is healthy, they’re special.
On special teams, Jason Sanders made two of his three attempts with his miss coming from 50 yards out. Jake Bailey was also a mixed bag, as he had some poor punts and a few that were solid late to pin the Raiders inside their own 10-yard line.
Miami still has a lot to figure out, but they’re 7-3 with six games left.
