The Miami Dolphins needed a quarterback after losing Tua Tagovailoa to a concussion, but they didn’t reach out to the GOAT, Tom Brady.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins did not contact Brady’s representation in their hunt for a passer. Instead, Miami decided to sign Tyler Huntley off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad Monday.
Brady, 47, was always a long shot to sign with the Dolphins. While the 15-time Pro Bowler and seven-time Super Bowl champion didn’t completely rule out a comeback when asked about it earlier this year, his nearly finalized deal to become part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and his new career as a FOX broadcaster make an already unlikely return to the football field nearly impossible.
The Dolphins probably weren’t looking for a quarterback to start the rest of the 2024 season, anyway. With Tagovailoa reportedly not planning to retire and aiming to make a return this season, Miami only needs a stop-gap solution to complement the “next man up,” Skylar Thompson.
In his 23-year NFL career, Brady compiled a 24-12 record against the Dolphins. In 2022, Miami was docked multiple draft picks after league investigations found the team made impermissible contact with Brady multiple times while he was under contract with both the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
