Dolphins DC gets second interview for Saints head coaching vacancy

Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver impressed in his first interview with the New Orleans Saints and is set to have a second interview with the team Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Weaver, 44, has also interviewed for the Chicago Bears’ head coaching vacancy.

Earlier this month, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington said on a podcast that Weaver “loves South Florida” and “really enjoys working with Mike [McDaniel].” So much so, that Darlington believes that Weaver could turn down a head coaching opportunity to stay on the Dolphins’ coaching staff for another year.

That would be good news for Miami after the team finished No. 4 in yards allowed during the 2024 season. Weaver joined the Dolphins last year after three seasons as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive line coach. Before that, he spent five years with the Houston Texans, including one season as defensive coordinator.

Last year, Weaver interviewed for head coaching positions with the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders. The Saints fired Dennis Allen in November 2024 and finished the season 5-12.
