Dolphins announce new jersey numbers for slew of players

With the 2023 NFL draft now in the rearview mirror, the Miami Dolphins are preparing for the start of a new league year.

They’ve begun signing undrafted free agents and inviting players to rookie minicamp for try outs.

With all of the new players that the Dolphins have brought in, there were some jersey numbers that needed to be given out. Miami announced a number of new jersey numbers on Monday, including some to those who were here last year and are just changing theirs.

Here were the numbers that were announced:

  • Wide receiver Braxton Berrios – No. 0 (first player to wear the number for Miami).
  • Wide receiver Robbie Anderson – No. 3 (Myles Gaskin wore it last season)
  • Cornerback Kader Kohou – No. 4 (changed from No. 28)
  • Cornerback Jalen Ramsey – No. 5 (free agent addition keeps his number, which was worn by Teddy Bridgewater in 2022)
  • Quarterback Mike White – No. 14 (wore Nos. 3 and 5 with the New York Jets; takes Trent Sherfield’s old number)
  • Punter Jake Bailey – No. 16 (wore No. 7 with the New England Patriots)
  • Safety DeShon Elliott – No. 21 (wore Nos. 5 and 32 in the past; takes Eric Rowe’s old number)
  • Running back Myles Gaskin – No. 37 (wore No. 3 last year but was No. 37 before that)
  • Linebacker Malik Reed – No. 47 (wore Nos. 50 and 59 in the past; No. 47 most recently worn by Vince Biegel)
  • Linebacker David Long Jr. – No. 51 (wore the same number with the Tennessee Titans; worn by Channing Tindall during the 2022 preseason)
  • Offensive lineman Dan Feeney – No. 67 (wore the same number with the Jets; last worn by Ted Karras in 2020)
  • Offensive lineman Kion Smith – No. 77 (wore No. 76 last year with Miami; takes John Jenkins’ old number)
  • Tight end Eric Saubert – No. 82 (wore the same number with the Denver Broncos; takes Cethan Carter’s old number)
  • Wide receiver Freddie Swain – No. 88 (wore No. 83 when he was with Miami last season; takes Mike Gesicki’s old number)

Now that there are rookies added to the mix, we should see their numbers come out soon as well, and changes could even come as some veterans get cut later in the offseason program and into the preseason.
