Bruce Irvin had a brief tenure with the Detroit Lions near the end of the 2023 regular season. The veteran pass rusher was on the Lions’ practice squad for several weeks and appeared in three games as an elevation.
When Irvin exhausted his practice squad elevations, the two sides parted ways. Now Irvin has found a new team to ride into the postseason.
The Miami Dolphins signed Irvin on Tuesday to help alleviate their critical injury issues at the EDGE position. Faced with playing without as many as their top six EDGEs due to recent injuries, including losing three in Week 18 alone, the Dolphins added Irvin and fellow vet Justin Houston. The Dolphins play in Kansas City against the Chiefs in wild card weekend.
Irvin managed one sack in his three games in Detroit, as well as a roughing-the-passer penalty that ended the season of Saints QB Derek Carr.
