Dolphins acquire Broncos EDGE Bradley Chubb in trade

With hours to go before the trade deadline, the Miami Dolphins made a move that could help solidify their chances as contenders.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Dolphins have acquired pass rusher Bradley Chubb and a 2025 fifth-round pick from the Denver Broncos. In exchange, Miami sent a 2023 first-round selection (via. San Francisco), a 2024 fourth-round pick and running back Chase Edmonds back to Denver.

Chubb has been a solid player during his time with the Broncos, and he’s currently on pace to have one of his best seasons – 26 tackles, eight quarterback hits, 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Miami’s already reportedly working on a deal to keep him in South Florida for a while.

Combining him with Emmanuel Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips and Melvin Ingram off of the edge will make Miami’s defense one that strikes fear into opposing quarterbacks and offensive tackles.

Due to the tampering charges that the Dolphins were penalized for this offseason, Miami only had one first-round selection in this upcoming draft, which is the same pick that they just traded away. This move shows that the Dolphins are really going all in on this short-term window.

General manager Chris Grier was also able to get out of Edmonds’ contract which looked bad with a $6.6 million cap hit in 2023. Now, Miami will pay just the dead money on the deal – $600,000.
