Doja Cat has hit out at Noah Schnapp for sharing their private messages, with her Instagram following taking a hit after the incident.
The 26-year-old had asked the Stranger Things actor to set her up with his co-star Joseph Quinn, 29.
Noah, 17, then shared the messages with fans in a now-deleted TikTok video titled 'thirsty Doja'. The messages showed Doja asking him to "tell Joseph to hmu."
Doja Cat later slammed the Will Byers actor in an Instagram Live and told her followers his actions were "snake s**t".
It has since been reported she has lost thousands of followers after posting the video, while Noah's follow count went up by almost one million.
Noah's Instagram following jumped from 24.25 million on July 7, to 25.17 million as of Monday (July 11).
Doja, one the other hand, fell from 24.34 million to 24.14 million over the same period, losing more than 200k followers, according to social media analytics company Social Blade.
In her live video, Doja Cat insisted she didn't want her fans to overreact, as Noah is "just a kid".
She said: "First let's try to be chill about it, to be fair, this is like a kid. I don't know how old he is but, there's no way he's over like 21."
Doja added: "When you're that young you make mistakes, you do dumb s**t. I'm trying to be super fair."
She said young people are supposed to mess up so they know not to do it again in the future, adding she had made her own share of mistakes.
"The fact that this person, that Noah did that and went and posted a private conversation between me and him is so unbelievably socially unaware.
"You know what I mean? Like., that's like borderline snake s**t."
Doja Cat did say she didn't think it encapsulates his entire personality, although she was hurt by his actions.
Many fans were unimpressed with the Kiss Me More singer, taking to Twitter to say she shouldn't be angry at a teenager.
One person wrote: "She said he was a dumb kid and was being rude in my opinion."
Another said: "He's 17... Why is she even in a 17 year olds DMS."
A third person tweeted: "Not DOJA cat being mad at Noah schnapp for sharing dms when she shouldn’t have asked him (a 17 year old who likes to have fun and joke around ) about setting her up with somebody he knew in the first place."
