Recently, leaders at the Justice Department have instructed their staff not to respond to an email that demanded employees to state their weekly accomplishments. This directive was revealed in an email obtained by sources.
The Justice Department is the latest among several federal agencies, including the Pentagon, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Energy, that have advised their staff not to engage with the email.
The email from the Justice Department stated, 'Due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the Department’s work, DOJ employees do not need to respond to the email from OPM (United States Office of Personnel Management).' It further mentioned, 'If you have already responded to this email, no further action is needed.'
According to the email, federal employees were given a deadline until midnight ET to respond to the mass email that requested them to explain their work. Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, issued a warning that failure to respond would be interpreted as a resignation.
