Doireann Garrihy backed for Rose of Tralee role as shake-up expected

The hunt for the new Late Late Show host is over and what a storm that was, while the frenzy surrounding the new helm of the RTÉ flagship show is over - the race is now on to see who will be the new co-host of the Rose of Tralee.

Following on from rumours that a "shake up" is coming to the iconic summer festival’s format, Ladbrokes has put forward a few favourites to join Daithi O’Sé on stage for the show.

While a few people are in the mix, including a pop star and a comedian, one TV presenter is leading the race, smashing the odds to become the forerunner.

Ladbrokes has installed Doireann Garrihy as the frontrunner to become the co-host of the Rose of Tralee.

Doireann, who presents 2FM Breakfast with Donncha O'Callaghan and Carl Mullan, has been installed by the bookies Ladbrokes as being the favourite, placing her as the top pick at 4/1.

Kathryn Thomas is next in line at 5/1, followed by Sinead Kennedy who rounds out the top three at 6/1.

Elsewhere, Jennifer Zamparelli and Una Healy are also in the mix to co-host the show from the Tralee Dome, with the pair tied at 8/1.

Love Island winner Greg O’Shea, the current host of Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show is the rank outsider as things stand at 16/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "As rumours continue to swirl about a ‘Rose of Tralee’ shakeup, we have opened the betting on who could potentially join Daithi O’Sé on stage this summer.

"As things stand, Doireann Garrihy is the top pick for the job, but with the likes of Kathryn Thomas, Sinead Kennedy and Una Healy also in the mix, it certainly won’t be an easy choice for RTE!"
