Dogs in a vets started barking as a dentist office "shook" after a huge explosion from a city substation.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service received multiple 999 calls at 3.48pm on Thursday, September 15, reporting a "huge" explosion coming from a substation on Argyle Street. Once firefighters arrived at the scene they requested help from Merseyside Police and Scottish Power Energy Network.
Once police arrived they put a cordon in place on Seddon Street while emergency services investigated. A spokesperson from Merseyside Police and Scottish Power Energy Networks confirmed the bang was caused by an electrical fault.

A spokesperson for SP Energy networks said: “Our engineers are currently investigating a transformer fault, which occurred at our Paradise Street substation in Liverpool city centre this afternoon. There was no impact on electricity supplies and our team will remain on site while our investigations continue.”
The North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene as a precaution, and nobody was injured in the incident. A woman working in the area told The ECHO how the explosion was "really loud".
She said: "We were just working and we all of a sudden heard this really loud explosion. We all just went outside into the street to see what was going on.
"There was a huge plume of smoke outside and people were looking out of their windows to see what was going on. We had a look in the gates but couldn't see anything or anyone."
A woman living in Cleveland Square said she came outside after the bang and could hear dogs from the vets barking and "going mental".
She added: "The fire brigade came so quickly, I was asking about and it didn't seem like anybody was injured which is really lucky. I've never heard or seen anything like it before."
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire engines are in attendance on Argyle Street, Liverpool. Crews were alerted at 3.38pm and on scene at 3.46pm. The incident involves a substation that has been involved in fire. Merseyside Police are also in attendance and have closed off the area and put a cordon in place.
"We’ve been stood down from this incident. No firefighting action was required and Scottish Power will be taking over the incident."
