A volunteer led dog sanctuary are putting on a bake and plant sale to raise funds for the charity this June.
Dogs Aid, who are based in Meakstown, are hosting a bake sale with a fun twist in the coming days. As well as delicious bakes and treats on offer to buy there will also be plants available to purchase, with all proceeds going towards services needed to look after the dogs in their care.
Vivienne Sheridan, who has been volunteering at the sanctuary for a few years now, said: "With so many dogs being surrendered and bills just going through the roof we're looking for extra ways to make some money so we decided to have a plant sale on the same day as the bake sale to hopefully get new people to come.

"It's coming up to that time of year when people are gardening so we thought selling plants would entice people to come."
The preparation for this plant sale actually began many months ago. Vivienne said: "We have a small green house in Dogs Aid so we cleared it out and we started planting seeds about three months ago.
"We have a volunteer who is actually a teacher in The Donahies Community School in Donaghmede and she asked the principle would it be possible to use the polytunnel there and he agreed and said he would love for some students to be involved in it."
Vivienne added: "Three third year students really took it on board and they planted all the seeds with us and have been looking after them for the past three months. They called up to us in the sanctuary a couple weeks ago with a few plants and between our greenhouse and their polytunnel we have a nice supply and we are hoping that they will sell on the day."
Vivienne said there will be about 400 plants available to buy and they range from pansies, wallflowers, snapdragons, petunias, sunflowers and violas. They will also be hanging baskets on offer to buy.
The charity usually have different fundraisers on throughout the year from pub quizes, dog walks and their Christmas sale but they are always trying to brainstorm innovative ways to bring in new streams of revenue as bills continue to increase.
The prices for the plants will be from €3 to €5, with the hanging baskets being slightly more expensive, but the price isn't set and people are encouraged to give as much as they can for the plants as all money raised goes towards the facilitation of the dogs.
The bake and plant sale will be taking place on Saturday June 10 from 12pm to 4pm on the green in Willow Park just off Glasnevin Avenue which is opposite the Autobahn pub.
