
In a swift move, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has managed to reduce taxpayer spending on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at the Department of Education by a staggering $370 million within just 48 hours.
DOGE, spearheaded by Elon Musk with a mission to streamline federal spending, announced the termination of 70 DEI training grants amounting to $373 million. One of the grants in question was funding teacher training aimed at addressing biases and racism, as well as promoting anti-racist mindsets.
Recent actions by DOGE have included canceling various DEI funding streams in education, such as revoking $9.7 million from UC Berkeley for a program targeting Cambodian youth empowerment.
Following this, DOGE also axed 89 Department of Education contracts worth $881 million, including over $100 million designated for DEI initiatives.


Heather Higgins, CEO of Independent Women's Voice, expressed support for the cuts in a social media post, applauding the move.
The Department of Education has intensified its scrutiny of DEI practices in education, issuing a directive to all 50 state education departments to eliminate DEI policies within 14 days or face potential loss of federal funding.
A letter from the Education Department emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards racial discrimination in educational institutions, citing legal precedents that prohibit differential treatment based on race for purposes like diversity or equity.
