A nine-year-old dog is “looking forward” to spending his first Christmas in his new home.
Rambler, who was found as a stray, has waited three years “for someone to fall in love with him”. The rescue pup arrived at Dogs Trust Merseyside in November 2019 and immediately proved himself to be a “friendly, playful, affectionate boy - with a loud and frequent bark”.
Although on two occasions the team at the Huyton-based rehoming centre thought they’d found the foxhound his ideal family, it was a case of third time lucky when Rob Morris and Julie Seddon from Aigburth spotted the charismatic canine on the Dogs Trust website.

New owner, Rob, said: “We have never owned a rescue dog but we decided we wanted to give a dog that had had a tough time the life they deserved. When we read about Rambler, our hearts went out to him and we just felt he could be the one for us. We were right.”
Rob explained Rambler has settled in “really well” and has been enjoying walks every day in the local parks and on the city's waterfront. He added: “In the evening, he’s happy to curl up in his bed. On occasion, he does still like the sound of his own voice, but we don’t mind, and neither do our neighbours.
"He’s a lovely dog and we can’t imagine life without him. We try and make sure that every day is the best day possible for him, but Christmas Day will be extra special. Hopefully, we’ve already given him the best present ever – a loving forever home.”
Georgina Lowery, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Merseyside, said: “From day one Rambler proved to be a real character and we knew we needed to find someone who didn’t mind his cheeky desire to let everyone know he was around. He is such a gorgeous, friendly boy and it was only his vocal prowess that was holding him back.”
“We’re all delighted that he will be spending his first Christmas with Rob and Julie, being given the love and affection he deserves. Seeing our dogs go to their new homes is why we do the job we do, and we are all absolutely delighted for him.
This festive season, Dogs Trust Merseyside has more than 50 dogs, including Greyhound Gary, Beagle Cross Frankie and German Shepherd Danza, who are “ready to head off to their forever homes”.
