A dog who was abandoned and tied to a bush has finally been rehomed after a long wait.
Rubble, a bull breed dog, was found tied to a bush, along with another dog, in Sefton earlier this year with them both being rescued by a kennel assistant from Freshfield Animal Rescue nearby. In April the charity released an image of the two adorable dogs on its social media channels in hope of attracting people interested in adopting the pets.
Before staff knew it, the Facebook post had attracted thousands of online interactions and the charity was quickly able to rehome one of the two dogs. Vikki Ferguson, a kennel assistant at Freshfield, said at the time: "The dogs had clearly been well cared for and as I approached them they seemed excited to see me. I took them back to Freshfields where our vet gave them an initial assessment.

"They are an un-neutered male and female, and it would appear they come from the same household. The female shows signs of having had litters previously. At the moment, we’re settling them in and making sure that they are warm, fed, safe and loved. The dogs aren’t available to be rehomed immediately as we need to undertake some further tests and assessments on both dogs.
"We would encourage anyone who feels they may be able to offer these dogs a home to complete an application form found on our website. We don’t know how these gorgeous dogs came to be in the sad situation of being abandoned on the road."
Despite the easiness of the process of getting one of the dogs, Maggie, rehomed, Rubble, the other dog tied to the tree had a much more difficult ride in a hunt for a home. Rubble was forced to wait before a new owner could adopt him, with him having to have cancer cells removed from his testicles.
His new owner Jackie said: "We saw Rubble on the website and fell in love with him straight away. We wanted a dog who would enjoy coming on holiday with us to Scotland and who we could take on adventures and walks. We took him home to ‘foster’ him and, of course, that didn’t work out for the very best reason – we’re adopting him instead.
"Debs said that Rubble is lucky to find us, but we know that we are the lucky ones. We can’t believe our luck. He’s lying here now on the rug and he loves going on walks and wagging his tail at people. Rubble is starting his new life – from being tied to a tree to romping happily through the field."
Debbie Hughes from Freshfield Animal Rescue said: "Everyone at Freshfields is delighted to see Rubble find the loving home he so deserves. This wonderful boy is so affectionate and full of fun. He’s come a long way since we first found him, scared and bewildered, tied to a tree in the road near Freshfields.
"His personality now shines through, with the love and care we’ve been able to give him. Happily, he is now in the best health he can be, and ready to take that next big step to a life of love and adventures with Jackie and Jason. We want to thank all our brilliant Freshfields supporters for making Rubble’s dream come true.
