The injured puppy was promptly taken to a vet, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was seized by police.
Its owner, referred to by the Met only as Mr Schmidt-Barraud, was interviewed by police, who discovered the bull terrier had also previously attacked another dog in Plaistow, Sussex, in May.
The 47-year-old was ordered to pay £3,781 in compensation and complete 140 hours of community service at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Mr Schmidt-Barraud was prohibited from owning or caring for any animals for a year and a destruction order was also issued for the dog.
