Dog owner sent 'hate mail' from 'vile' neighbour complaining about 'yapping' pet

A 'vile' homeowner sent an anonymous threat to their neighbour complaining about their 'noisy dog', it has been claimed.

Saddened by the interaction, the pet owner took to Facebook to share what happened.

Posting to a group for Sheffield-based residents, the animal lover expressed their shock at receiving the 'disgusting' letter from an anonymous resident.

They also shared a photograph of the printed note with its message written in capital letters. It read: "Please stop letting your very noisy dog outside, particularly in the late evening and early hours of the morning, which you have sometimes been doing up to 2am in the morning during the last six months or so.

"We, and some neighbours are fed up of hearing your f****n noisy dog yapping away."

The letter continued: "You should have respect for your neighbours, some of whom work on shifts like myself and don't appreciate being woken up during the day or particularly up to 2am in the morning!

"No wonder your next door neighbours are moving out, and your new neighbours will soon wish that they had not bought a house next to such inconsiderate neighbours.

"We don't know why you would want to own such a noisy yapping dog, so please do yourself and your neighbours a favour and get rid of it, or keep it indoors, where it can use a tray for a tiolet (sic), or serious action will be taken if you don't do something about it very soon!"

Responding to the letter in their caption, the dog owner wrote: "THREATENING HATE MAIL. We received this vile letter recently anonymously as it was sent 2nd class post, and felt really disappointed to have such a rude, threatening letter sent to us from someone so close by.

"Firstly, nobody has ever mentioned this to us before, we were already sorting a mouth guard, we bought one recently but it was too small.

"Instead we got this disgusting letter, swearing at us, speaking about our neighbour moving out, who sadly passed, who we were very close with, which is the reason for the family moving NOT our dog, she loved him.

"We love our dog as all people love their own, and guess what - dogs bark. We accept that late at night isn't ideal so we will sort this as we already actively have been, but dogs do not go to the toilet in a tray, and they do bark.

"He obviously isnt the only dog that barks, and it's only while we let him out to the toilet, it isn't everyday though by any means. But as I say, we have tried and are trying to get it sorted with training etc.

"Very sad we live near people like this, in such a lovely neighbourhood. We wish people would just come and speak to each other, than send anonymous hate mail."

In response, social media users were quick to share advice.

"We rang the police when we got a letter like this straight away they went around and knocked the door! Not kind - dogs are awesome," read one reply. Someone else commented: "I mean this is absolutely disgusting and so poorly written it's almost funny. I would also report it just to be safe.

"I would try and address the barking for the sake of your more polite neighbours it can be so frustrating when disturbed sleep is involved. Dog trainers can help with excessive barking there is normally a reason for it so then you don’t have to muzzle them.

"I hope you're all ok and not too shaken by it."
