A rescue dog that was found dumped by a park bench with a heartbreaking note next to him is still waiting to find his forever home.
Two years ago, Boston, a golden retriever mix, was found tied to a bench with an emotional note, weighed down with a rock, next to him in Mexico City.
Since then, he has been showered with love like the child had hoped for, but he is yet to find his forever home.
At the time Boston was found, he was starving, having had no food or drink, when Marcela Goldberg from pet shelter Mascotas Coyoacán saw him.
She came across the note which partly read: ”Please, I ask that you adopt this cute dog and you take good care of him.
"It hurts a lot to leave my dog here but I made the decision of leaving him because my family used to mistreat him and it would always hurt me to see him in that condition.”
Boston was "extremely scared" at the time but his behaviour eased once he was freed from the bench on November 22, 2020.
“He was tied up in such a way that I had to free the collar from the leash, which was impossible to do without getting bitten," Marcela said at the time.
"So I had to put a new leash around his neck and cut out the one holding him to the bench."
In new video footage, Boston could be seen lapping up the affection from a pet shelter worker.
The pooch wrestled, cuddled and rolled around in the grass as he nuzzled his nose into her while she stroked his stomach.
Staff said Boston is "very strong" and is now in "perfect health" as they continue their search to find him a loving owner.
A spokesperson told Daily Star : "It has been very gratifying to see how he has evolved from that frightened and fearful dog to this young, loving and energetic dog.
"And at the same time [ it is ] frustrating not having been able to find him a home, partly because of his high level of activity and partly because of the enormous decrease in adoptions after the first year of the pandemic."
Describing his personality and the type of owner he needs, they said: "He is extremely active and loves to play with other dogs. He also likes to play with balls and live with cats.
"[He] is a very strong dog despite not being so big in size.
"The person preferably [ has to have ] space and other dogs or [ be someone] who takes him out to exercise a lot."
