'Doesn't play' - Liverpool warned against shock Everton transfer move

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has questioned recent claims made about Dele Alli.

Everton signed the midfielder from Tottenham on transfer deadline day, but has made just six appearances in the Premier League since his move. He is yet to start a single league game, and has been an unused substitute in the last four matches.

At the weekend, ex-manager Neil Warnock had argued why he felt Dele would be a good addition to Liverpool or Manchester City’s squads. Warnock highlighted Everton's style of play as a problem for the England international.

“When I look at Dele, I feel sorry for him,” Warnock said on Sky Sports News . “Everton aren’t a team good enough or strong enough to give him the ball in the right areas.

“You play him off Calvert-Lewin. Play him off the striker and give him the ball in them areas. But they don’t do that. They are under the cosh all the time. They pass it in silly areas and don’t play them balls into feet and get runners, which he is good at.

“I think if you put him into Liverpool or Man City’s team, then you would get a hell of a player out of him.”

These comments have led to former Liverpool defender Enrique questioning Warnock’s remarks. The Spaniard argued why Dele’s lack of playing time is a key factor behind his disagreement with Warnock’s claims.

“Do you reckon Jurgen could get anything out of Dele Alli? Warnock claims the Everton star on only 169 minutes with the Blues would be a good fit for Liverpool,” wrote Enrique on Twitter.

“To be honest I don't know what he is talking about.

“Doesn’t play for Tottenham. Don't play for Everton that is fighting to not be relegated and he is a good fit for Liverpool?”
